English Mastiff. I have owned them exclusively since 1967 (yes, 45 yrs.) I had my first one when I was in college, and except for the periods of time when one passed "over the Rainbow Bridge" & until I just asked myself if I could go through losing a companion, friend, but more accurately a family member, I have had them ever since. Only time I left them was when I was assigned to postings (TDY, they came with me everywhere else except Vietnam, and some other overseas postings), and my present one retired as a Police K-9 when I retired as Chief of Police. He is now cross-trained as a disability-assistance K-9 (I brought a little too much of Vietnam back with me) and we are together virtually 24/7/365-66 (leap years). He has traveled virtually all over the U.S., as have all of my others, attended my police academy continuing education programs, and when I lecture he is by my side at the podium. His favorite choice of meals is the Child's Chicken Fingers plate, and while some of the waiters/waitresses are not initially convinced it doesn't take long for them to learn that I was serious and the he will not eat his french fries without catsup.
