Can anyone help me with some homework about balancing chemical equations?

I mainly am confused on what to do when the number of atoms are odd numbered. Example: NaN3 => N2 + Na
(Tally of atoms) Na- 1 Na-1
N- 3 N- 2
Please help if you know how to balance chemical equations!

You would have to multiple each atom by a number (on both sides) to make them equal. If I did it right... the answer should be 2NaN3 ---> 3N2 + 6Na
there would be 6Na and 6N (3*2=6) on the left. One the right, there would be 6N (3*2) and 6Na, making it balanced. Hope this helps :)

Thank you, it really helped. This has been the only part confusing me and I'm glad to clear up the misunderstanding.
