Centrioles are found only in animal cells. Also, in plants, cell division mainly takes place in special regions called meristems. These rapidly dividing areas will either elongate the tips of the plants' stems and roots or expand their width. In animals, cells divide everywhere. Cytoplasmic division is also different in plant cells. Plants divide the two daughter cells by building new cell walls rather than by cleaving (pinching in two) as animal cells do.
