But I have raised a family. Built a business or two, employed lots of people, made plenty money. I have been a political activist, raised some money for charity, made the world a better place, and I have a really high score on solitaire.
I have had quite a bit of fun so far, in general I quite enjoy life.
for me, life is a challenge, try something new, then enjoy. this is what you called evolve (or something), you try something new, enjoy it, get bored, try to find something new again. or probably this is the cycle of life. and i'm not an atheists.
Unfertilized gametes are alive, but will die if they don't fertilize another gamete. When a male releases his gametes, over 250 million gametes die every time. In menses another gamete dies. The real question isn't life, its viability. Can the fetus live on its own? The gamete that fails is an unviable living cell and will die. Whether or not there are abortions, we as a species kill trillions of human beings every hour. When abortion was illegal, it wasn’t an effective deterrent. It forced women into making the dangerous decision to seek medical services from people outside of the medical field. It drove the mothers to commit suicide, by back alley abortion or suicide by other means. Back alley abortions killed more people, than legal abortions do. Sometimes abortions are necessary as in cases of rape or incest, they can be necessary when the fetus is deformed or debilitated; there are also times when an abortion must be done to save the life of the mother. If a loved one of mine needed an abortion I would prefer that she should get one from a licensed physician, than having to seek out the services of some butcher who will likely kill her in the process. Wouldn't you?
The point is whatever you make it. You have to make your own reasons to live. Most of us live for our friends and family, a career we care about, or hobbies we love. There are plenty of reasons to enjoy life- the first and foremost being it's the only shot we have.
Scientifically, the point of life is to carry on, reproduce and prosper. In terms of our lives, we are the only species with the power to decide what the point is. Too many don't get that, to the detriment of all.
I'm not an atheist but to ask whether mankind in general has a point in life kind of implies that there has to be a greater intelligence to make that point. For those who don't believe in such things then the reality is there is no point to life for the genera masses, we just exist.
