Please count my essay. Do changes that make our lives easier not necessarily make our life better?
Do changes that make our lives easier not necessarily make our life better?
With the development of technology, our life has been changed. Even though these changes has bring us many things, which make us live easily, they do not actually often improve our lives.
To begin with, I prefer to use a historical instance. During the two Industrial Revolutions, lots of things were invented. Cars, trains, and planes were used for transportations; telegraphs and telephones were used for communications; tankers, cannons, and riffles were used for wars. There were also other machines, which produced what we ate, wore, and used. It seemed that the Revolutions brought us a number of benefits, but things would never be that easy. The environment was polluted when producing products and the farmers lost their farms. Most of the workers starved, while some of the merchants wasted. Should we call these better lives? Even though people could communicate, travel, and fight easily, and even though people can gain their needs more conveniently, they were losing the place to live due to the destruction of the environments and suffering unfair conditions from the distinction of hierarchies. Therefore, we can barely deduce that changes make our lives better.
Besides, the changes happen around us can also prove my statement. One of the change is the invention of iPhone. Just as what apple says, iPhone has changed our views on cellular phone. iPhone brings us the functions that are greatly helpful for us. For example, app store makes us obtain the apps easily ; message makes us chat with friend easily; FaceTime makes us watch friends' s face easily. All those things make our life easily. But I am not sure that they make our life better. Because once we get used to iPhones, we cannot leave them. If there is a serious situation in which we are not able to use iPhones( when we get lost, for example), we may do nothing to deal the problem. We depend on iPhones, or the new changes, and thus, we lose of capacities of doing the most basic things, like cooking or shopping, for we have technological products to help us. Therefore, I don't think that those changes really improve our life.
In my opinion, the changes, though make people live easier, deprive the peoples? abilities to live alone. They make us dependent, and this will lead to a consequence that fewer people will be able to survive once leaving their tools. What' s more, the industrial changes deteriorate our environment, like the acrid rain and global warming. So I don't agree that the changes which make us live more easily necessarily make the life better.
