At first I thought of Joan Rivers, primarily a comedienne but also an actress - but no! She was born in 1933, Connery in 1930...

But - there is a website called THAT'S ALL FOLKS, with Hollywood's oldest; and it gives Connery coming in third oldest actor. Oldest is Betty White, age 89, born 1922 and still acting.

Second is Dick Van Dyke, to be 86 this year, born 1925; and then Connery!

Here is the website: http://thats-all-folks.com/old-hollywood-actors/

Interesting. I'd never have picked 'em.

Dozy, this website made me realize I also am from another generation...listed the oldest twenty Hollywood actors - including people like Morgan Freeman, Anthony Hopkins, Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, and Jane Fonda (I still was thinking of her as the younger generation following her father Henry Fonda!).
Report as
LOL, me too. I keep forgetting how old everyone's getting. Dustin Hoffman's still the kid in the Graduate.

That site has missed out on at least a few. Christopher Plummer is still acting and he's 82. Christopher Lee is only 3 months younger than Betty White and he's still acting (working on The Hobbit). Max Von Sydow is 82 and he's still working.

Max Von Sydow...first saw him in THE SEVENTH SEAL, then WILD STRAWBERRIES... both 1957, I think! The site I found was only Hollywood, maybe that is the difference?
Report as
Nope...Plummer is definitely Hollywood...and born December 13, 1929!

Ok, 2 movies of not to long ago that I must mention.
1; Haekels Tale.... Anthony Hopkins
2; Perfume, a murder mystery...
Dustin Hoffman.

Both are 'recent' and both have strange orgies in the plot. Both should be watched with viewer caution if at all. Lol.

just to add, if the movies by Frederica Sagor Maas will be shown again, that will make her the oldest living active actress at 111 years.

Dear Boypinoy,
I still think the diversity of your knowledge is amazing! Have just spent a lovely time learning about FSM on the Internet...had never heard of her...and her photos, so beautiful when she was young and amazingly still attractive...

Do you have a favorite movie of hers to suggest for me to see if I can find and watch?
Report as
Hi Virginia,
Actually I haven't seen any of her films. I kept telling my friends that she just wrote for Hollywood. But they said she played in the roles in the silent era.
Report as
Hmmm...she apparently wrote a book in 1999 about her experiences in Hollywood...and not very favorable! She truly sounds like a fascinating person.
