What are some good desserts for Christmas?

I'm 13. I'm capable of making any type of dessert as long as it has nothing to do with simmering stuff on the stove, I'm TERRIBLE at that lol . I wanna surprise my parents with a lot of desserts when they come downstairs. Any yummy ideas?

Same here! I am going to make peanut butter blossoms, the things with the pretzels, m&m's and Hershey kisses, gingerbread cookies, pumpkin pie, chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.

Try creamed celery? My parents always make it for my family. Just strawberry or pineapple cream in a fairly chopped piece of celery. Wouldn't call it a dessert, but good enough in my account, hah.

A low calorie, easy cheese cake - take a graham cracker crust; Put 8 oz 1/3 lower fat cream cheese (room temperature) into a large bowl. Add a cap full of both lemon juice (bottled) and vanilla; add 1/4 cup sugar. Blend w/ hand mixer. When well blended, pour into crust. Cover with pie crust cover and chill for 1 hr. You will have an easy to make pie!
Enjoy!

- Sugarcookies (OFCOARSE!)
- Pumpkin Pie (You can buy pie crusts)
- Fudge Crinkles (SOO GOOD: http://www.food.com/recipe/fudge-crinkles-a-great-4-ingredient-cake-mix-cookie-32614)
- Tarts (Of any kind. i recommend pecan)
-Banana Cream pie
-Pound Cake (easiest dessert here)
-Bread pudding (If you like custard, you will like this)
- Trifle (Layer a bunch of yummy stuff together in a bowl. Lots of good recipes at foodnetwork.com)
- Dessert Bread (Like pumpkin, banana or corn)
-Cookie/Brownie bars (Basically just buy a box with the dry ingredients and then mic them together. foodnetwork.com has good recipes for this)

As a mom let me say that's really sweet, i would suggest www.southernliving.com== egg nog pound cake to kick-it up a notch toast the slices & spread with jam, also praline pecans is something to snack on the following day, or maple-pecan sticky buns. Hope this helps

As guy to gal, I suggest that you make a dish depending on if your parents like sweet or semi-sweet. Always try to make something new, just don't do something too new because you need practice on that. If your parents are the type who like sweet stuff, make a chocolate something with a twist for the topping (licorice, cinnamon, candy-cane bits, etc.). If they like semi-sweet, try a larger dish with a sweet topping (chocolate, so on and so forth.). Then for the other dishes, try to create different tastes from what you made already, but make sure to make them the tastes of Christmas, so your parents can feel in the right place, and hint them that they should indulge, but don't be bold, just casual, because if you are bold, your parents will tense up. After all, it's Christmas, the time to relax!

I just made up a cute idea for a cake :D It should be like 4 inches tall and 8-10inches wide so :) You put white frosting all around the cake then if you want you can make Santa, a little cabin with smoke coming out of it or a Christmas tree and have the cake at least say merry Christmas, happy holiday, or Merry X-Mas and Happy new years! (or holidays!) Yea i know its a crappy idea but eh :P (Also you can have the cake taste minty so like use candy cane bits in the cake i guess :P) <That's the part in ( ) i edited. Merry Christmas !

Hi,
Nice question. Some common desserts that are effective and useful are:
A really nice dessert to make are cream puffs. They look like they are difficult to make, when in fact - they are not that hard.
You can also arrange the uncooked cream puffs in a big circle and bake them like that. That looks very pretty on the plate garnished with some chocolate shavings and sprinkled powdered sugar.
Thanks.
