Why is 10 the first 2-digit number?

Why not 9 or 11? Why is percent calculated out of 100 and not any other number? why are we so dependent on factors of ten to express things like scientific notation? 10 is just the tenth number in a neverending sequence of numbers. every large number we use is a factor of ten. tell me why its special.

Numbers are based on groups of ten, just like the ten fingers on most people's hands. Considering the hand was the first calculator, doesn't it make sense to base everything on tens?

Report as

probably because 10 is before 11 and 9 isn't 2 digits!!!

Report as
why did we make 11 2-digits
Report as
God wanted it that way. You're asking why some things just simply ARE.

Because you are being idiotic

im questioning life's mysteries. im far from an idiot.

First of all, 9 can't be a two-digit number, for obvious reasons. And 10 is the first two-digit number because of a little digit called "zero'. Percentages are based on 100 by definition. And clearly you need a hobby since this seems to have you so upset.

Report as
9 could have very well been a 2-digit number, but we made it single
Report as
Are you honestly insane, or just pretending? Do you even know what a 2-digit number IS?
Report as
yes. its hard for me to think of a logical question you can interpret
Report as

Because 9 is only one digit. Does that look like two numbers to you?!

Report as
im asking why it is only 1 digit
Report as

Because we use a base-10 system. 2 is a two-digit number in base-2- 10

Report as
why is ten so special. if u think about it, ten isnt very important other than that it is even

You can question everything.......if it would have been different you would have questioned that. Some things just are!

Report as

it's actually 01, 02, 03, 04 etc 09, 10. does that help ?

Report as
well, the one pops up before the 0 after the number 9. why is that?
Report as
go play with an abacus. the first calculator based on 10's. it's the ancient standard still accepted by today's system.
scientifically 10's work with the metric system....

Lol

Because 9 is not a double digit, and uh...ten comes BEFORE 11

Report as
explain why we dont use, say...8... as the number in which we base all future factors of 8 off of. why it isnt th first 2 digit number
Report as
Because it doesn't have two digits!!
Report as
it currently isnt. why did we make it so?
Report as
Why do you over-think things... Just let the way it is be the way it is. Just let it be, honestly! I mean why cant you just accept that that's how it is and that's how it'll stay. Just... Gosh.
