Though I'm considering a conversion to SIMians ... The belief that our reality is actually a simulation being run on a computer.

Rex ... not necessarily. There are computer games where the player has to use an in-game computer.

We don't yet have the technological capability of creating Artificial Intelligence that actually learn/evolve. But if we did, we could create a SIM environment where the SIMs could learn and their in-game technology evolve. Perhaps to the point of creating their own in-game computer AI - and thus repeating the cycle.

You should give what your heart tells you. Tidings is an Old Testament teaching meant for the Jews not for Christians.
Report as
whatisnext
missmostly, tithing is in the old testament and that was directed toward the Jews. As an example, the tithing also provided food for the priests who worked in the temple. For today, tithing pays for the building, utilities, etc., it may also pay the Pastor a salary. Believers/Christians as you shared with pretty_ladi, give from the heart. So to say that tithing isn't for the christians is inaccurate, unless you can show me scripture that says we are not to tith. I look forward to understanding your interpretation.
Report as
Jesus Christ said giving is not from the heart if you are forced to give (tithing means that it is your duty to give 10%) giving ten percent because you want to is not tithing

It would be great if everyone here on Ask.com would feel the same way. Personally I do not believe we have the right to attack someone's belief or opinion. We should respect that a person has to say - regardless.

nutscracker, for some reason this just popped up that you replied. To answer you; I did not imply that people stop asking questions - my statement is in regards to how others ask and answer questions of this topic. I've only been on here for a few months and I've seem many attacks on questions and answers, mostly in regards to "christians" in general. I believe we all have the right to our beliefs and opinions - it's respecting each others that is lacking at times.

Just for clarifcation - christianity is not a religion - it's a belief. Catholics, Lutherans, and Baptists are just a few religious denominations that hold the christian belief.

The definition of Muslim is "one who submits" so I feel like I submit myself to God

How can you reconcile being a Christian (who believe Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and was the Son of God) ... with "thinking as a Muslim" (who don't believe Jesus died on the cross, or was the Son of God)?
Report as
whatisnext
walt_oreagun There are many people who have a different faith base, yet believe in "God.". Islam does believe in God,. Christians should show more love and respect for other's and their belief system. I believe too many people use the term "christian" to mean they believe in God, yet may not attend a church, read the scripture, or follow the commandments He's called us to follow.
Report as
@what ... I did not say Islam doesn't believe in God.

Re-read my question.

The prime tenents of Christianity are that Jesus was the Son of God, and died on the cross as a sacrifice for all Mankind's sins.

Muslims deny BOTH of those tenents.

Thus, it is a legitimate question to ask how anyone can call themselves a Christian - yet say they think like a Muslim.

If someone mistakenly believes "thinking like a Muslim" means is "submitting to God" ... that person needs more education into the Islamic beliefs.
Report as
@walt_OReagun If someone mistakenly believes "thinking like a Muslim" means is "submitting to God" ... that person needs more education into the Islamic beliefs. == YES people do ready about islam only through QURAN. donot listen to what people say.

The prime tenents of Christianity are that Jesus was the Son of God, and died on the cross as a sacrifice for all Mankind's sins.=== We Muslim believe that Jesus(peace be upon him) was taken to be killed but GOD took him in heaven alive and he will return one day...he is not SON of GOD it is written in Bible also... or tell me any section in bible where it is written that Jesus(peace be upon him) saying "I M SON OF GOD"

At Jesus’ baptism, the Father spoke out of heaven and said,
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased,” (Matt. 3:17).

The term "son of God" occurs more than 40 times in the Bible, all of them in the New Testament. The phrase is found in the KJV in Dan. 3:25, but the Hebrew word of God is actually in the plural so it should read, “son of the gods.” So, what do we find when we examine the phrase in the New Testament?

1.Jesus Christ is the Son of God, (Matt. 26:63; Mark 1:1; John 20:31; Heb. 4:14).
2.Unclean spirits would fall down before Jesus and say, “You are the Son of God,” (Mark 3:11).
3.“…the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God,” (Luke 1:35).
4.Adam is said to be the son of God (Luke 3:38).
5.Those who hear the voice of the Son of God shall live (John 5:25).
6.Paul had faith in the Son of God (Gal. 2:20).
7.Son of God has no beginning or end (Heb. 7:3).
8.The Son of God appeared to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).
9.Believing in the Son of God so that you may have eternal life (1 John 5:13).
We can see that the term refers to the majesty, position, and power of Jesus who is holy (Luke 1:35), associated with salvation (John 5:25), that we are to have faith in the Son of God (Gal. 2:20), so as to have eternal life (1 John 5:13), and that he has no beginning or end (Heb. 7:3).

@walt I did not say that you did, I made a statement in general. There are some people or groups who may call themselves "christian" yet do not believe in the Trinity. No one will ever "win" the discuss of theology, because we all have a different interpretation. As "believers" in Christ, it is through our actions that we will win the hearts of man, not by our words alone. This ventue makes it very difficult, yet by how we respect others and their beliefs will show His love, which I believe you have shown at this time.
Report as
I believe in Jesus and God, it's just that the dictionary definition of Muslim is "one who submits"
Report as

@phaont That explains it, thanks for the clarification. Just as someone says they are a christian does not imply which denomination/religion. For one to say they are a Muslim would mean that their religion is Islam.

Unless you count language translations ... I doubt there are 30,000 versions of the Bible.

I once counted the different versions available in English ... and there were (IIRC) 30 with meaningful differences.
