I think it is horrible because the kids that got killed were only 5-7 years old. It wasn't their time to die. I want to know why the shooter killed those people and why he didn't tell anybody about these thoughts in his head.
Its sad that people like this cam commit an act so violent on children . I feel very sorry for the families also - i do understand the pain and the most tragi thing is too lose a child before you die yourself :(
I think it was the most tragic even of this decade so far. I grieve for the families who lost loved ones and whose surviving children will never be the same. My only hope is that it will not spark changes in gun laws but provide more sight into how important aid for the mentally unstable can be
Its devastating. It wasnt close to home, but thinking of all of those kids who never get to experience life for themselves is just heartbreaking.. Its not fair. It makes me wish I could go back in time to stop him. He had no right taking anyones life..ecspecially kids. But I pray for the kids and their family's.
We are shocked when children are killed. We are horrified when the perp is a young mentally challenged man. We are saddened and motivated to do something about it, but rational enough to want to do something that is effective. The assault gun ban that expired a couple years back is widely regarded to have done nothing to reduce the number of mass shootings. It didn't reduce crime by any measurable number. Look up the wiki on it, and you will see that the Government decided it was not useful, so it was allowed to sunset and hasn't been reissued. . 2. The biggest common risk factor is the crazy person on the trigger. Crazy people can either be active or passive, and some of the drugs to treat depression have been known to activate a previously passive person. We need to get better at screening people with psych disorders and keeping them from guns. . What to do? Better treatment for mentally challenged. Better screening and defense on soft targets. Put a guard on watch at school parking lots. Any hardening of a target will make a shooter move to a softer target; it won't keep him from all targets, he will just slide to a new (and softer) one.
