Tax increases aren't gonna make a bit of difference, the spending needs to be cut!!!!

I could afford to pay a bit more, but I want it to be fair. If I pay more, I want everyone to pay more. If people aren't sharing the pain, there is no incentive to participate. I don't want to be a sucker, paying more when everyone else isn't.

Let's start by repealing some laws. Starting with anchor babies and eligibility for social security benefits including SSI.

Sounds possible, when we elect more Republican senators.

While we are at it; no raises for elected officials in Washington if we are in a recession.

Fair enough, but first you have to get Congress to vote for that.
Good luck with that.

Ahh, there's the greedy rub.

If I thought that if I paid higher taxes for a couple years would fix it and stop them from spending like my wife I would do so in a New York minute! But we all know the equation works like this..take in ten, spend fifteen, take in fifteen spend twenty. They are out of control!! Spending must stop FIRST!

I am willing to pay a bit more in taxes, if the gov't would make those " tough spending decisions" that Mr. Obama talked about during the campaign . Without spending reductions this thing will not get under control.

I am neither pro nor negative Clinton but exactly how much was the deficit when he left office?

I'm more than willing to go back to the Clinton tax rates if it will actually help. Spending must be addressed but it will take higher tax rate also and not just on the high end income.

I agree with spending cuts. I keep saying it will take both and people keep saying I must like high taxes.

You paid more in the 90's and we all did better.

boo the more you pay the more they spend.
Report as
Not necessarily. Spending must be cut but not just so-called entitlements but we also have to pay for the two flipping wars... and the Medicare prescription drug plan

Nope. It won't help. Your just giving an addict a fix to get through 1 more day. It doesn't really matter anyway. This Nucklehead we've got in charge is dead set on bankrupting us either way.
