Why am I afraid of the dark? (Read description)

AS a child I have memories of seeing "things', in my old house, and lately i've been having a recurring dream about these little things sitting in my room. Nothing happens but the room i'm in warps and changes every second and it really scares me for some reason. I've currently moved out of that room and into another one. But I can't walk in the hallway in the dark, I always have a impulse o run to light, it feels like someone's watching me or following me. I'm not sure if it's just paranoia as a result of my dream, or something else.

I think its your head playing with you just relax and know that nothing is going to happen. Just take a deep breath and walk like ur a model to give u confidence. Or just keep a flashlight w you at all times

I was afraid of the dark when I was little... I always had a nightlight. It helped me a lot. Maybe it could help you too! :)

Paranoia, which was ingrained into your subconscious as a child. Talk to your doc, or even the school nurse. You just took your first step towards healing. It is a condition that is easily cured!

you are not afraid of the dark you are afraid of what you can not see in the dark try to study your room so that you can find your way through it blind folded and that might help because you know were everything is.

Courage isn't a matter of not being afraid. Courage is being afraid of something and dealing with it anyway.

What you are seeing is coming from your own mind - you get scared because you're not aware that these "things" you see are coming from your unconscious mind - but since they are unconscious, they appear to you as coming from outside of you - which can be really scary. Fact: there are no outside supernatural creatures - just what humans have invented - often unconsciously. Why this happens could be for many reasons - you may have seen or watched a scary movie that affected you more than you thought - or it could be deeper - something bothering you in your home life - these feelings often end up "appearing" as external scary things - which are very convincing as they seem so real.

can u some that up in one setence? :P

How about: "it's all in your head"?
Report as
Makes sense. Is there a way to get it "out" of my head?
Report as
Mimi: yes - start replacing these "intrusive thoughts" with healthy thoughts - and start exercising. Find a novel you like and read it - sink yourself into the story - and keep a journal - write down all of these thoughts and feelings - and become a detective - find out exactly what triggers them.

That. sounds like so much fun. I think I will. :)

So, they can't hurt you, yet you can go insane from paranoia, kill yourself because of mental distress or just straight up die of a heart attack, yet, they cant hurt you.
Report as
oh my god if u are a old person yeah u can get a heart attack duhh!
Report as
Still possible. xDD But I ain't even close to old yet hun.
Report as
haha I was just kidding with this old thing it is true though u could be imagining things u never know but my story was true. :) hope it stopes soon okay :)
Report as
Yeah. :) I'm pretty sure it will. I think all those things that I suggested could happen are all kind of mind tricks. I don't know, but I feel strongly about the paranormal. I kind of want to do research and get a career out of it ya know?
