Could holding a baby's face too tightly while burping them cause bruising?
I left my 2 month old baby with my SO, who I almost never fight with, has never shown me any sign of excessive violence or anger, and who has cared for my baby a few times before with me not around. I was gone for an hour or so, and when I came back, my baby's lips and right side of her cheek were clearly swollen. Later a bruise formed. My SO swears he doesn't know what happened, and that the only time he touched her face while I was gone was when he burped her. I took her straight to the ER because I was so seriously concerned and all the tests came out normal. CYS has opened a case on me, forbid him not to see her, and is making my life hell.
My baby's father is not around and my SO has been nothing but amazing to my baby, treating her as his own. He has been threatened to be taken to jail for this. I have ended our relationship because of it, but even that doesn't stop him from continuing to want to be in our lives. After being treated as badly as he was by CYS and my family, he still persists to pursue us. I want to know if anybody has ever experienced unexplained bruising or has bruised their baby accidentally while burping them. Please help!
