Is cheerleading a pro sport

Report as

The NFL cheerleaders come closest although they are not very well paid. They used to all be volunteers but at some point the teams realized that they serve a function similar to employee in that they promote the sport.

If there are other cheerleaders who are paid I'm not aware of it but it certainly doesn't sound like anything you could make a living from. My guess is that there are some people on the periphery who make more money like the organizers or the people who run the organizations and squads. Or the people who run businesses that teach cheerleading, gymnastics, etc.

I consider a sport anything that involves physical skill or activity that involves competition. So yes. Now whether it is a "pro" sport depends, I would do further research if I were you.

So "Physical Skill"and "Activity" can mean being MLG Pro at video games :3. It takes physical skill with your hand to be fast and skillful. And it is an activity xD

lol JK

Silly.

Pro means you get paid. What you consider is irrelevant.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I thought she just meant sport in general.

Cheerleading is considered to be a professional sport. It is usually made up of physical activities based on organized routines which practically make it a pro sport. However, it is widely debated upon whether it should be a pro sport.

Organized routines do not make it professional.

I say yes. Gymnastics is in the Olympics and cheer and gymnastics are practically the same things to me.

You don't get paid to be in the Olympics. You can make money thru endorsements and such if you're among the very best (e.g. Michael Phelps) but that's not a salary.
Report as
It does not matter if you get paid to be in a sport. If you are doing some type of physical activity, it's a sport.

I didn't say it wasn't a sport. Pay attention. I said cheerleaders aren't paid and the analogue to the Olympics makes no sense. Cheerleading is not a profession, at least not for the cheerleaders.
