Why is breast cancer such a big thing to support, but the other types of cancers aren't as supported?

I feel like all the other cancers out there aren't being supported enough. Breast cancer has it's own support month. Why can't it just be cancer in general? Why is it just breast cancer?

I don't know if this is the reason or not, but breast cancer does have a pretty high survival rate. A person can live without a breast, where as a person can not live without a brain.

Because that's the most common type of cancer and that is could possibly spread to your heart.

Because it has good screening methods like mammograms so one can find out she has it in time for the doctors to actually do something about it.

I've asked that same question. I'm in Remission from Hodgkin's Lymphoma and we don't even have a pretty colored wrist band.
I think it's because of how many people, male and female, that are effected by Breast Cancer. The rarer Cancers don't generate enough Research dollars.

Breast cancer is shown bigger support because it affects the women. Breast cancer even though it is survivable it is quite common. Breast cancer does affect many women because it comes back multiple times sometimes (similar to other cancers) and it has always been a popular way to raise money and show support I guess

Maybe because if one woman gets it then there's a high chance other females in the family will get it. I know one family where the mum got it survived it, then her sister died from it then another sister's daughter survived it. I also know a set of triplets where 2 of them died from breast cancer & the middle twin, my ex mother inlaw has outlived her 2 sisters so far by 17 & 12 years. The ex mother inlaw lived a life of disrepute until she was in her 50's then just drank like a fish while the other 2 sisters lived a quiet wholesome life. I think also breasts are a food source for babies so they are seen to be more important a cancer to get funding so they can find a cure. Also the fact that some women in a high risk family are willing to have their healthy breasts removed to prevent getting it when they know there's a high chance because it is in the family genes. a radical maceotcmy at least give them a chance to not live fear.
