Yeah..but wait, when your purchase a gun, do you have to take classes to learn gun safety and the rules and stuff? Or is that a choice... Because if it isnt mandatory, it should be because of all of these mass shootings.. These people buying the guns are literally insane.
Gun control won't solve anything. You don't need guns to kill people. The biggest school "killing" was around 47 people and no guns were used, bombs were used, and those are as easy to make as going to Barnes and Noble and buying the Anarchist Cookbook. So what are they gonna take next? Freedom of press? And they have tried gun control with Clinton and it failed.
It's only a part of the solution. It's not realistic to believe guns are going to go away. But perhaps assault weapons with expanded magazines could be more controlled. Better mental health screening and care would be helpful as well.
I don't believe it is the whole answer. I believe there should be background checks, a waiting period, and education programs. I also believe that we need to do something better for those that have mental health issues.

No. We have a quarter of a billion privately owned firearms in the U.S. How quickly do you think they'd all disappear if they were outlawed. We'd have guns floating around for decades, but only in the hands of criminals.
Gun control will help the situation. Education and mental health will help the situation. Many other things will help - but people will still die. The only thing we can do is make the ideal situation. Educate people, help them psychologically and control gun ownership. Compromise can be found, but more people will die as a consequence.
