Protection, hog hunting, sport shooting, a lot of other recreational things, and more practical ones like if you're in the military or you live in a really bad neighborhood. If you're all for that bill going through good for you, but if not and you just don't like guns or understand why we're allowed to have them, then well....I'm not entirely sure what to tell you.

If the lawless thugs have them, and they do, then the rest of us have a right to self defense. Outlawing them will not stop another slaughter. Someone who is set on deplorable acts will find a way to do it. Making everyone defenseless will not help. Fort Hood was an example of what can and will happen. He used a pistol in an area where there were no weapons allowed, on a military base. 13 people killed and 30 injured. In China, also no guns allowed, a man went into a school with a machette and slaughtered 30 children.
well, if they believe its necessary for their protection, then they have a right to have it according to the 2nd amendment of the constitution. so it isnt a matter of need really, its a matter of rights, and as the constitution specifically says the right to bear arms shall not be infringed, and it does not specify the types of arms we can bear, then all U.S. citizens have a constitutional right to own whatever type of gun they want, whether its a rocket launcher or a 22. Pistol. then i would say it holds the government to its word
I'm a collector, and as an American it is my right, a right that I fought in 2 wars for, my father did 2 tours in Nam, and countless relatives served and died in WWI and WWII. I can trace my family lineage back to the beginning of this country and we all fought for something that we believed in. How about this, if you want to purchase an assault weapon-dumbass term, you must be a non felon, taxpaying individual without metal illness. If you don't have a job, and don't pay taxes where did the money to buy the weapon come from? It's like the free Obama cell phones, who are you calling-your dealer. So if you want to save lives, no felons, no welfare, no mental illness--
Our second amendment rights were given to us to protect ourselves not just from criminals, but from invasions from other countries, and our own government as well. How would we be able to defend our homes and our country against criminals, invaders, and our government, who all have at least automatic assault rifles, if we cannot arm ourselves with them?
I do not own one, but some people I know do have them and use them in competitive military -style rifle matches , as well as for collecting and self- defense . Actually, I am more concerned about the root causes of such anger than I am about what type of firearm someone owns.
