It has to do with the fact that a high percentage of gun owners are kind of hillbillies, trailer trash, and since that Duck Dynesty show came out it has made guns evermore popular. Not all Americans are rednecks, though. In fact most are very nice, but there are people that are obsessed with guns, very obsessed.
i dont know. i think they should just ban them and let only military people and cops own them. not us civilians. and for those of Americans who like to hunt, they can have places that rent guns, you are allowed certain amount of hours with it, after they run a back round check and get your info first.
that, or they make the bullets a lot less deadly, maybe a strong plastic? but i still think ban them, because you can take someones eye out with the plastic bullet.
besides, if no one owns a gun, no need to protect yourself from gun shooters. just have a knife, possibly a sword. lol, just trying to think of solutions.
Basically it's because of our second amendment rights. The second amendment says that we have the right to own a semi-automatic gun (not a military gun) and they can't take it away from us as long as we have the proper licensing saying that we know how to use it. Many people think this is to protect ourselves from robbery and stuff like that but that's not true. The main reason that amendment was created was to protect ourselves from the government. During the revolutionary war, Britain took away our arms and in the middle of the war, started raiding the houses of the colonists to get the supplies they needed. If everyone in America has a gun, that would equal more than the U.S. army, and therefore, if any of our rights were taken away from us; we would be able to fight.
Since many others have a gun and we can't put the genie back in the bottle so to speak , we want one too. We don't want someone with bad intentions towards us to have such a thing that we don't have. Our home is our castle and we darn well better be able to have a semblance of defense and with it a peace of mind.
Some guns are used to put food on the table, just as some axes are used to put wood in the fireplace. Both can kill. You could kill someone with a golden cross if you hit them hard enough. It's the person, not the weapon.
The writers of our constitution added it as the second amendment to protect us from an out of control government. It's also written that our military can not be used against us. Obama is trying to change all that.
It is a right we were given to protect ourselves from our own government, and from foreign invaders. If we had not had private gun owners during the American revolution we would have lost the war and been an imperial extension of the British.
