Should I be able to have an abortion if I'm raped and I don't want the baby?

Report as

Of course you should.

The only problem would be that if you delay until the baby is too far developed it may not be legal to have an abortion done.

The United States legalized abortion in 1973 (Roe vs Wade Supreme Court Decision), but eventually, it will be your decision. Your conscience will dictate. In other countries, abortion in any form or reason, is illegal.

Yes. Women should be allowed to decide that whether they were raped or not.

Oh how I agree with you 100%. People can argue this all day (just like politics or religion) but I stand firm being Pro choice.

Same here. Nobody has the right to decide whether a woman has to be pregnant and go through labor and delivery except the woman herself.

You are the only person who can answer this question. I'm so sorry that it happened, and that you are faced with such a decision. Whatever decision you make will be the right one for you.

Please don't. It's legal, but think -- what happened to you isn't the child's fault, and there are many, many people who would love to have children but can't. Please, put the baby up for adoption rather than kill it. It's terrible to have your body violated, but please, please, don't kill the child. It deserves a chance at life, whatever the circumstances of its conception.

Okay, I was assuming this actually happened to you -- you're just thinking in advance. Good for you, nice to do that. If you ever *do* wind up in this situation, refer back to my answer, kay?

Having a child and giving it up for adoption is certainly not the best choice for every woman in this situation. If abortion feels like the right thing to do, then do it. Don't let anyone guilt you into making a lifelong choice.

In what way could letting the kid live and giving it up for adoption be the wrong thing to do? I'm not much into 'guilting people into' making choices, but abortion is. . . murder. It's sad to me that we've confused womens' rights (which I strongly support) with injustices that are no rights at all.

Abortion is not murder. Can you name a woman that has been convicted of abortion and received the death penalty or life in prison?
