I prefer Sony. They hook up easily, and for the price, they have great performance. To me price isn't everything. An added plus is Sony's use of linking all of their branded devices together, it makes for greater ease of use for my home theatre.
In my house I have Panasonic, LG and Samsung, and the Samsung is by far the best. But the more important thing is whether it is plasma, LCD or LED. Plasmas generally don't work well in rooms with a lot of light. I can't tell you any advantage or disadvantage to an LED I just know that last time we went shopping, for the money we spent, the LCD was the way to go.
I went cheapo Depot when I bought my last one 6 years ago and it is still going strong...Dynex...needing to upgrade soon...will probably get the same. If you are a critic and need the best picture....go to BestBuy, WalMart, and your other electronics stores and look at all the TV's on their wall, each brand has a different quality picture...some people like different pictures for different reasons...so it is best to see them all in action to make that choice.
