Prescription-strength ibuprofen is 800 mg and up to 3 doses is allowed in a 24-hour period. So you took 1/2 of that maximum in 1 dose. I don't think it would be wise to repeat such a dose, although I understand why you took it. Call your dentist and make an appointment before the holiday weekend. Ibuprofen is generally safe when taken at the OTC dosage. Long-term use at higher dosage can lead to liver damage.
Taking two of the 600 mg ibuprofen may be considered to be risky. However, this one time may pose a lesser risk. Repeating this for a while will definitely be dangerous. You can check with your doctor for a proper medication on your pain.
There SHOULD be no problem with this.....doing it daily, or taking more can be bad.....I've eaten 12 aspirins and drank a half a bottle of liquor before ( I do NOT condone that behavior any longer!!) and I'm still alive and kickin.....the human body is VERY resilient.....good luck with the pain 8(
I have taken that much with no problems...but I am a big guy! Just don't do it long term...the dosage recommended is because that is what your liver can process efficiently. If you need stronger, you need to see your doctor...prescription strength pills can be much stronger, but they are designed to be less harsh to your processing organs! Don't self medicate to prescription strength with OTC for extended periods and not expect long term damage to be done!
