Don't drink anything but water or eat anything AT ALL; and don't watch TV, play video games, use the computer, etc. for at least a half an hour before bed. Don't exercise at all, either. Also, virtually all sleep medications cause sleep to be less restful (basically, you can't enter the truly restful stage). The only medication that I know of that doesn't inhibit that stage is melatonin, because it is a hormone our bodies already use in the sleeping process.
