Did John Boehner just lose the respect of the Republicans? He was trying to pass a bill he did not get enough people to endorse it and

the Republicans decided to go on a nice long Christmas vacation - avoiding negotiations - must be nice to have a long Christmas break at the expense of the American people

Report as

The dems are always so good at point blame to the Republicans, but don't just buy their talking points and think for yourself. The republicans are the ONLY THING that stands between the people and huge tax and spend policies of the democrats. Look at our national debt............WE NEED TO CUT SPENDING, not raise taxes in a recession. All the cuts the dems talk about that they've already done are bogus: like saving money be getting out of Iraq and Afganistan..saving money on Obamacare, which has already been proven will cost Americans hugely, saving money on the cost of the national debt because interest rates (temporiarly) have gone down. They haven't cut anything. The Republicans have already passed many bills that will address the fiscal cliff, and Boehner has said "it is now up to the Democrats". In addition, Obama has a nice long Hawiian vacation planned too. Dont' so easily drink the democratic koolaid.

Btw Trish why dont you call a spade a spade and complain that the Dems took off on vacation to?
You and your donkey favoritism is tiring.
Report as
I have two problems with this, you're spelling is terrible which means you shouldn't be allowed to voice your opinion until you go back and take elementary again. Secondly, the republicans were the ones who want to raise taxes.

I do believe his chances for the Republican Nomination in '16 just got flushed down the crapper. However, I believe Obamas credibility is shatt also. No clear leadership, no one is willing to do what is right. Both sides want to do what their 'handlers' tell them to do.

The country MUST stop spending money it doesnt have ( and won't see for 20 or 30 years). And although everyone 'wants them', Entitlements DO have a limit.

Thats all Jb wants to do is stop Obama from spending Obama refuses to cut spending.
Report as
No, Boehner MUST kowtow to the big money interests to keep the Bush TCs in place. They had an agreement earlier this week that closed the Bush TCs to 'over million' and Boehner couldn't even get that passed. He has NO leadership qualities to PULL the rest of the idiots along. There is an old Arab saying: "An Enemy of my Enemy is a friend of mine " It is too bad that these two Loony Bin Parties can't figure this out. We not only have to 'go along to get along', we must actually prosper. Too bad the leaders who get 'appointed' (annointed) by party leadership are NOT the ones we really need for the.country.
Report as
Its not Boehner's fault that he couldn't get enough Republicans to pass the vote. However, since the press is ALWAYS ON OBAMA's side, no one is talking about how OBAMA not being able to deliver all his democrats to vote on any compromise either. Isn't this getting old to you Democrats when you ALWAYS see the talking points and the press demonizing the Republicans? Do you really think they are so horrible? How much money would Obama, Pelosi and Reed have spent by now if the democrats controlled everything? Probably we would have a 20 Trillion debt by now. Guess we just all need to become democrats and just spend, spend, spend and lets the chips fall as they may we we'll just see how long it takes for our country to fall.

This all comes down to one basic issue - We MUST stop spending money we don't have. Borrowing money from the Chinese and spending it on wasteful programs is doomed to failure and nobody seems to realize that. We need to WAKE UP.

We need to get Washingtons elected elite to live as real people do for a few months.
Report as
Maybe this is where term limits come into play. We shouldn't have "elite" elected officials. Serving is an honor - not a profession. If they weren't constantly worrying about how to get re-elected, they could focus on doing their job without worrying about how the consequences would affect their re-election and do what's right for the general public. I'm thinking it's time to start throwing da bums out on both sides of the aisles.

No it's more like bartering to get soemthing passed. When was the last time something passed without attachments and amendments?

He just said that they would be more than willing to return to the table if Obama will give in and stop spending. He (Obama) is spending us into oblivion, he rufuses to stop spending and borrowing from China.

The Democrats are going on a Christmas break too. That includes the Senate and the White House. If they didn't get exactly what they wanted on a silver platter it would never get past the Senate before Christmas. Don't blame the Republicans. It takes two to tango.

Trish, he's losing respect fast, they are turning on him behind his back.
Just wait a little longer and see what happens to John Boehner. His days are numbered and he knows it. This is gonna double back fire on the GOP. America is watching.

If he is losing respect it's because they think he is buckling to the foolish dems. So who might actually have been rooting for Boehner?
Report as
The GOP party is splitting in half now. They know they will never be reelected unless they start listening to the American people. These games they are playing need to stop.
Report as
Yes, the Republican Party is imploding
Report as
Let it implode and be replaced by real conservatives for a refreshing change.
The situation we face now is pathetic. We re-elected a very liberal president. It is like when the kids tell the parents what they want and the parents give it to them even when they can't afford it. They just irresponsibly put it on the charge card for those left with income to pay for. I dare say that this is the stupidest electorate in our history.
