Economics. Your suggestion sounds good but no government could afford to pay their fighting forces what they're worth.

On the other hand, an article written by a retired US General was published in a 1937 Readers Digest. In it he stated that another war was coming (he didn't need to be psychic to realise that) and suggested a way to prevent it.

He listed the profits made by many big US manufacturers in WW I and said that on the day the first shot was fired, all industrialists, bankers and politicians should be conscripted. "Don't send them to fight," he said. "They'd be useless. Rather put them on the same pay scale as a front line soldier and send them back to do their own jobs."

Interesting theory. It's a pity that the only people in a position to implement it would have to apply it to themselves.

There are less football players than soldiers, you expect to pay every a soldier 150,000 dollars for every shot they fire? You're funny. And people complain about spending.

be quit so you think that a person tossing a ball around should get more money than someone who is saving our country?

Be quit? What am I quitting? I don't think they should get payed more, but unfortunately they are, that's just the way it is. You expect that because I say something against this, you pin the blame on me.

I agree. People need to realise that there are people dying for our country and they have children and their spouse is trying hard to make ends meet while football players make probably quadruple the money and they don't do nearly the same things.

I think it's a fair question..Our Armed Forces need more respect for the life they lead and the sacrifices they make. Leaving family and home....Sport figures are way overpaid in any case......and don't forget the perks they get..Commercials..right...
Number should not matter...Without our Armed Forces, where would we be?.We can do without sports tho I really love the games...

Somebody should mention this to the armed forces PR guy. Wait.......I guess some people would frown on live televised battles. Lack of sponsorship could be the cause.
