What's the best way to do well in Duck Life 4?

I've tried having one duck and many ducks, and either way I can never get past the mountains.

To get past the mountains in Duck Life 4, you first need to make sure you get your flying level up to at least 50. Next, make sure you battle the yellow duck, white duck, and green duck. The yellow and green ducks are on top of the shop, and then the white duck shows at the top of the hill, after the shop after you beat the green and yellow ducks. After beating all the ducks, look in the locale for a windmill. You will see it revolving. Click on the windmill and then do the contest.

yeah, I've done all that, but the yellow duck beats me every time. :(
