If you are 13 and he is 18, he can literally go to jail for going out with you. The reason this is a law is because at 18, he's an adult, and adults are really good at manipulating younger teenagers and messing with their heads and taking advantage of them. I'm sure you like this person a lot to even be considering it, but it's easy to have feelings for someone that much older, and it's not fair to either of you to be in a relationship with each other because of the age difference. If it is meant to be you can wait five years.

I am a freshman (14) and my boyfriend is a senior (17 turning 18 in 2 months) and yes it is perfectly legal if you are not having sex. even if you allow him to do ANYTHING it is considered statutory rape. It is weird and creepy yes. In my situation we are both in Marching Band so its all happy. but depending on your sitation that could be really creepy. When my boyfriend asked me out he made it clear that he did not want sex. ALSO your parents need to be okay with it. No relationship should be kept from your parents. so basically...

2. if he is immature
3. if he promises he isnt going to have sex with you

all that matters is if ok with you and your parents but it is always good to be with someone your age so you could relate to them better.
If the 18 year old is a guy he's just using you. That's also a major age difference, and if you live in the U.S. don't do anything ... questionable. If you guys have any sexual intercourse or anything against the law that can result in jail time. It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
Look i realize that you may like him, I've been there before. Older guys just seem cooler, but I think that at your age difference it's safer if you don't date.
