Babies sort of like to do things in their own time. Some babies walk early, at around 9 months or so. For some babies it is later. Some wait to walk until 15 to 18 months, Each baby is different, and does things in their own time, so don't freak out if the baby does not start walking earlier than others. If he/she is showing that they can support weight on their legs with you holding them, and they are bending/pushing with their legs well, I would not worry.
It depends on many factors, what was the condition of the baby at the time of the birth, body weight, fitness, other ailments or disorder at the time of birth. Then how the baby is brought up, are in the house other small kids, who takes care of the baby. If every thing is normal generally baby starts standing from 10th month and walks within one year.

Baby number 1, a boy, walked at 9 months-but he kept falling. Baby number 2, a boy, walked at 12-13 months. He didn't fall a lot. Baby number 3, a girl, walked at 17 months!!! Her dad carried her everywhere so she didn't have to learn how. She's 27 now and he still spoils her. Every child is different. ;-)
