Is marijuana officially legal in Washington state yet?

Report as

Colorado and Washington became the first two states to legalize the recreational use of marijuana for adults over the age of 21 when voters passed ballot initiatives in the 2012 General Election. But implementing the will of the voters in those states may be a long time coming if the efforts are challenged by federal authorities.
Possession, manufacturing and distributing marijuana is still against federal law in the United States.

Talk about a double-edged sword..... but I'm sure the two states will see an influx of new residents. At least at the state level there's some protection, but it's still touchy.

I agree!

It's almost as if people are being "set up"....if one doesn't get you, the other one will.

It's legal in Washington and Colorado at the state level, not federal. Go figure.

You are dead on!!

Yeah, but in Colorado there are tons of meth labs. Meth is such a problem there that I don't really think he feds will care about weed, especially since weed is legal on the state level.

Oh, believe me when I tell you, Meth is a huge problem here as well (in Alabama). Heroin is also becoming more and more common. My personal opinion? I have never seen anybody O.D. on weed, nor commit a violent crime because they had smoked a joint (blunt). Personally, no I don't choose to do it....anymore. But, when I was much younger I certainly did. Totally agree with you harmonyb.
