What dog should I get?

I want a really nice playful loving cute dog that's good with kids, I don't care if it's big or small, I don't care if it's hypoallergic or not.

"Really nice playful loving cute dog that's good with kids?" That's practically the definition of a golden retriever. They're the best dogs in the world, in my opinion, even though mine is a waffle thief.

Bigger dogs actually are better with kids since they have a higher tolerance. I'm not sure what to suggest to you, but pretty much any dog can be what you described!

Pit bull, golden retriever, or a Labrador
These are all loyal and playful dogs :)
and for those of you who think pit bulls are mean and aggressive, their not, pit bulls are just 1 of the most mistaken dogs in the world they are actually super loyal and playful :)

There are actually a lot of retriever attacks but no one ever gives them a bad rep. Only the pits :(
Report as
I know it's really sad :(
Report as
I think it's because of the pit bulls appearance :/
Report as
Its not the pitbulls appearance that gives them a bad name it is thier physiology, theyare capable of doing more damage because of the way their jaws are formed. Yes retrievers and even smaller dogs do have more frequent attacks but they do not do anywhere near as much damage as a pit is capable of.

I love German Shepherds as they are great with kids and also keep us alerted to what is happening in the neighborhood. We also have a Siberian Husky who loves kids and is very entertaining. Check out the listings for your local shelter and see what they have available. You could also call or email them and tell them your circumstance. They should be able to match you up with a great dog.

It doesn't have to be a pure-blooded dog at all. Go to the local shelter with your kids and pick one out. You will be saving a life and your dog will be grateful for life. Rescued dogs are worth their weight in gold, I have only had rescue dogs for the last 15 years and would not go back. BTW, you can get pure-bloods, but mixes are harder to place, so I suggested one of them if you don't already have one picked out.

****Get a mix from a rescue. Save a life and give a wonderful dog a home. I got my mix from a rescue 2 years ago (December 4th 2010). He's the absolute best. :3

well it really depends on things like the size of your house, age of your kids and how active you are.For example,if you have a small house, older kids and you are not very active then a small dog like a yorkie would be good.If you have a large house, young kids, and you are very active, you could get a large dog like a lab.

You should just get one from the shelter even though it might be a mix breed. Shelter dogs always turn out to be the best ones!

Get a lab or golden retriever from a shelter. A mixed breed is best for health usually.

Bigger dogs are always best, little dogs are are prone to biting and nipping and they are short tempered. Big dogs are a lot more docile, intelligent and lovable. Some good breeds are labs, golden retrievers, German shepherds, Scottish collie or huskies and beagle.

Getting one from a shelter is also a great idea. A lot of the dog there have been abused and when you give them a good home, they will love you for it. You will also be rescuing a dog from potentially being put down by the shelter

The type of dog should have nothing to do with what others like, it should fit your lifestyle. Unless you have a tun of time to devote to this dog, do not get a herding breed such as a Border Collie, Australian shepherd, German Shepherd or standard collie. These dogs need constant exercise, training and jobs! If you don't like active dogs, get a small mixed lap dog breed, like shih tzu, chi, Pomeranian, bichon frise. Golden Retrievers and Labs are wonderful with children, but depending on the line, you can get a hyper one that requires exercise and attention. Rescued Greyhounds are actually very big couch potatoes, they require walks like any other dog, but are surprisingly lazy. A shelter dog is great, just make sure you do several visits with it and make sure it fits your home and family. Please don't pick out of cuteness!

Try to get a big dog considering you want it to be good with kids. I think a husky or golden retriever would be good. If you want it to work on a farm try a cattle dog like a Australian kelpie which are awesome family dogs and great working dogs as well. Try to get a puppy for then they can bond with the kids. Also I extremely recommend adopting a puppy from a shelter who really deserves a good life and is just as good as a breeder puppy.

Well it depends. If you have a family that has small children, I wouldn't recommend a dog that is small. Just search online a quiz that tells you what dog is best for you and your family members :)
