Is it reasonable to expect a totally unpolluted environment? Why or why not?

It would be nice to hope for such a thing, but I think that slack environmental regulations are working to make that an impossibility. I would like to see more responsible environmental programs in effect.

No. People will always throw cigarette butts out their window which don't biodegrade for at least 20 years. Plastic bottles don't biodegrade at all, factories continue to dump their waste into rivers and the list goes on, and on, and on...
