Damn good question, because I have gotten fired more than once due to what I considered "irritation" but those above me I guess considered behavior that should be dealt with with Thorazine, exocism, or barring that, termination. This is really a difficult question to answer, depends on job or context. I'm getting much better at just walking away, but then again, if you're talking about certain types of employment, that might not be an option. Maybe you could provide more details to your question. If you're looking for a simple solution I don't think one exists, other than medication, depending on how "irritation" is defined and by whom.
Grab a bible and read and thrn pray. It works for me. I work in a funeral home and I deal with sorrow and sadness just about everyday then I go to my second job in a hospital (security) were I deal with nuckleheads high on PCP and drunk and we have to treat them like normal patients even know they curse you out, spit at you and you have to wrestle with them to restrain them so by the time I get home my brain is burned out. I grab my bible read and pray and get ready for the next day.
