Depends on the person wielding it. I would prefer a lighter sword because I am thin and limber and would prefer the speed of a lighter sword, but a bigger person, with more strength might be able to handle the stronger sword as easily as I can control the lighter one.

at the risk of being made fun of i wont tell u

If you are practicing and building technique the lighter will help at first, also if you need to carry it long distances, weight can become cumbersome. However if you are using to defend yourself, it would need to be strong enough to inflict damage without breaking.

A Katana is the best sword in the world, a wind class one specifically, it is both light, and strong, so i simply choose the sword that has both

LOL Excellent point... Given the option I would make the same choice. When he said strong OR light, I was thinking like a European shortsword like a Katzbalger vs. a Broadsword like the Claymore.
Report as
because its the name of my e-mail address that i made a long time ago, and i dress a bit more classy than alot of people
Report as
dalton, thats why i trained with japanese swords, european swords were so far behind the technological curve that it isnt even funny, the claymore is way too unbalanced and heavy, the shortsword has no reach, a katana has perfect balance and a wonderful reach, it makes the sword fell like an extension of your arm
Report as
hmm sounds like the perfect sword then, and just to be sure, ur saying just cause you dress a certain way it gives you a certain title?
Report as
preppy is the universal term for a person who dresses in cleaner cut clothes, so i guess it kinda does, i never thought of it that way, i just kinda am preppy, it doesnt make me better than anyone, its just a style.
Report as
k sounds about right

I think it depends on the people wielding the sword. Some idiot lugging around a huge sword (Zweihander) and just swinging it around not hitting anything while a light sword (Rapier) provides speed. Yes a sword with power and speed is the best choice (Katana)
