I can sew and crochet. My granny taught me!!!!!! It's funny because all of the "fabric" stores have turned into craft stores. I guess sewing is a bit out dated but I like it..... it relaxes me!!!

Joanne's Fabrics.....they still around?????
Report as
Yeah, I was just in one a few weeks ago because I made a quilt as a baby gift. They are mostly crafts and the fabric is about 1/4 of the store in the back. It's really a bummer!!!!!! I had to go to the fabric district in LA over the summer because I reupholstered my kitchen chairs and finding nice upholstery fabric is impossible in the stores. Every thing is so out dated!!!!!

Well now..Nafta..don't open wounds..I think I nearly flunked sewing in school. I can knit and crochet a little but where I shine is gluing!! I can glue a hole in a pant pocket faster than you can blink an eye..course problem is trying to get your hand to fit back in the pocket..Hubbyt suggest I don't do that any more.. I cook well tho...cough:)

Yep, I know how to sew -- by hand & with a machine. I was making potholder sets & selling 'em for a while. They looked awesome, and were fun & easy to sew.
I crocheted when I was a kid, don't remember how to now. Never knitted, but wouldn't mind learning... and I'd really like to learn quilting. Doesn't seem that difficult, if my machine was working well, I'd probably be able to figure it out on my own... :8-)

SEWING is a surprise..? Nah, I do all kinds of "creative" things... no surprise there! :)
Dude, you should've seen me fixing the toilet last week, installing a new doorknob & lock, re-wiring a fan & some X-mas lights, spackling holes in walls... I've changed my own tires, flushed out radiators & changed thermostats, oil, transmission & brake fluid, sparkplugs, batteries & cables, etc... that stuff is a li'l more surprising -- haha! ;-)
Report as
Oh yeah -- I did break the sewing machine in middle school & had to sew my poroject by hand... :-/

*pitchin a tent*......8) Nice, it's quite a rarity to find a woman that has half a mind for any of those things....let alone even being able to GRASP the concept of any of those things 8)
Report as
It's called "being poor." XD
When you can't afford to hire someone to do that stuff, you're forced figure it out yourself! Plus, my father built race cars from the frame up, built engines, etc... also had his own business installing overhead garage doors, etc... the ex-husband framed houses, installed siding (did a house w/ him, toolbelt & all!!), replacement windows, etc....
Some stuff I've learned, some seems to come naturally. Really, those things aren't that hard to do, just takes a li'l common sense, some tools & Duct Tape!
Report as
Where would the world be without Duct Tape.....8)

I honestly don't know...? It has to be the most veratile, useful product ever created! :)

The Mythbuster's have proved that beyond a doubt!! 8) Love that show!!

Ugh, I can't stand that show. Those guys annoy me & one of 'em looks very much like a walrus... ("I am the Walrus... koo-koo-ka-chu!")
MrBU watches it though... along w/ EVERYthing else on TV.

I too have pondered getting a second microwave for some "experimenting" 8)

It figure a rough and tumble chick like yourself would know how to patch stuff up 8) I mean, from all the stories you tell of gettin scraped and banged up I imagine that all your clothes are patchy 8)
Report as
Tell him to sew 'em himself!! Men... sigh... can't do anything for themselves! :)
Report as
Lol! Nah, my clothes only get holy from getting worn. The only things that get messed up are my body parts. XD
Report as
Lol! He does sometimes ABU.

I saw my 7th grade math teacher yesterday at the grocery store, and I'm just like, "No...." Mom goes, "You don't wanna say hi?!" *jokingly of course* and I'm all, "NOOOOOOO!!!!"
Report as
Hey... thought I heard my name! (Naf said, ..."b anged up..." haha!)

I miss sewing. My machine needs to be checked out, the bobbin keeps coming unwound & I can't figure out why. Changed the needle 'cause I thought it might be bent -- wasn't the problem. Hmm... :(

I know most women are suppose to be able to sew good and knit.... but I for one don't sit around trying to learn it cause I simply don't want to it just doesn't suit me probably would have to actually know how first for me to get down with it and like it LOL :)
