What does it mean when the ABS light always comes on, on my Chevy Uplander?

Report as

ABS is your Anti-lock Braking System. Low brake fluid would cause it to come on. If your pads are worn, it could cause it to come on also, due to more brake fluid used in the lines, calipers, etc.

it means you need to take it to a mechanic.

Check the break fluid. If it's not low then take it to a mechanic.

There could be a problem with a speed sensor on one wheel. First inflate all the tires to the correct pressure then drive for 15 min to see if that corrects the problem. If not go for proper repair.

nite_mare is on the right track! could have a problem w/ABS sensor, brakes, pads, fluid? numerous things! have a mechanic you trust, look at it! does your brake pedal feel different? like going all the way to floor? spongy, no resistance when you press on it? be careful trying to stop!

It means there is a problem with one of the wheel speed sensor or the abs module. This light has nothing to do with your pads, brake fluid or lines. There is another brake light on the dash for that. Either one if the speed sensors is failing to read the speed of the wheel or the module has gone bad. Regardless unless you have a scan tool you won't be able to find out...
