What's your opinion on kids playing M-rated games?

I think that first of all, it depends on the game, and two, the age. I think it's okay for teens to play games such as Halo and Modern Warfare, but probably not anyone under the age of 10.

I think kids shouldn't be allowed to play m-rated games. It makes them violent... and YES IT DOES.

It's the kids who make us violent. Whenever I'm playing, that annoying, whiny voice from a 10 - year old complaining about campers gives me the urge to strangle that fellow.
Report as
Yep but sometimes when I play grief in black ops I like making them mad cause their voices gets higher and they talk like a pirate...
Report as
The voices only make me furious.

"OH CAMPER HOW DARE YOU OOOOOH OOOOH OOOOOH"

For the love of God, just shut the hell up and enjoy the video game your parents bought you.
Report as
Yep little kids... They get mad when you kill them and think youre a camper when you are running around with a sniper rifles and the camp with their noob tubing rifles

I know right?

If they need to rage, at least rage with sophistication.

Haha yep they have to control themselves

It's a matter of choice and character. I wouldn't mind the ones that contain blood, alcohol, smoking, etc. but not too much violence and definitely not sexual crap. Kids shouldn't be exposed to that kind of stuff.

They will eventually be exposed to it anyway.
Report as
Yeah but that's not a very good excuse. Just because they eventually will doesn't mean should.
Report as
I agree with RebeShock. Even though they will eventually, that doesn't mean they should be exposed to it at a young age.

I started playing these games around 11, I reckon thats a good age. I don't agree that they create any violent thoughts, as I have NEVER had one due to a game.... Well, maybe Madden against my father

I think it's absolutely ridiculous for a community of children to be playing video games. First of all, do you notice the huge compounds of hate diverted towards Call of Duty? It's partly because of Call of Duty's community - they are overran by kids yelling into their microphones. Immaturity is great in this level of place, and exposure to violence will only make them feel more open to "letting their thoughts out".

Perhaps if the kids start learning how to restrain themselves, they can play M-rated video games. The rating of the games don't even matter anyway, kids will do anything to get their hands on a good video game.

I'm sorry, but in conclusion, children below the age of 10 should be outright banned from video games like Call of Duty.

Little kids like under 10 yes old shouldn't be playing this type of games
1. They are annoying online
2. They cuss more than the the old people
3. They get so violent inside the game and outside

It really depends on the parents and kids you don't know if they're mature enough to play those games which sometimes they are. In the real world kids are exposed to guns and violence anyway in the movies, and stuff especially on the tv, you can't really help it. Obviously kids shouldn't be exposed to these things but they are anyway. They see it on cartoons as well. I don't support it but I'm not against it.

It would depend on what the child knows and doesn't know on what is real and not real. If a child thinks people run around shooting people all the time because they saw it in a video game then they shouldn't but if a child knows that games like Call of Duty are not real they should be able to play these games. It is up to the parents to analyze what the children can and cannot play.

They shouldn't have mics at least. Killing zombies isn't fun if 8 year olds are complaining

For ten and under? Not at all. I'd say for games that are just M for strong violence and/or language (call of duty, Halo) I think 13 is the right age, maybe even 12. For most other mature game I'd probably boost the age up 15,16, or even 17. My neighbors kids started playing Grand Theft Auto when they were 6, and although they were relatively nice, they were extremely aggressive and could really lash out at you. I started playing M games around 12 and I seemed to be able to the content fine.

My dad won't even let me play GTA. And Halo's violence isn't as bad as CoD in my opinion. Of course, there's a big difference in violence and language in CoD: MW3 and CoD: Black Ops
