I helped clean out a hoarders house in the not so distant past.....the lady died so that was the only bonus in it that we weren't asking her for permission to throw stuff out....she owned 17 cats that were apparently using the entire house as a litter box.....my opinion is that the people are sick, lazy, lack all sorts of self-respect and are addicted....I mean, this lady had an ENTIRE closet full of cleaning supplies which she obviously never used....she had a shower caddy that had tons of different kinds of shampoo and body wash in it which all had just a little bit used out of each of them....she was saving canceled checks that the bank used to mail back to her from 1973....and the clothes, my God the clothes!! She had a different outfit for everyday of three years!! We ended up taking OVER 16,000 pounds of garbage out of that house......sick....

My mother-in-law's creepy husband was busy gathering up all the condiments and unused glasses from the hospital after my husbands grandpa died last year. Sickos, I tell you. A man had just died and all he could think about was mayo packets!!

I discarded over $3,000.00 work of expired food from a house like that last year.

Some of these people are obviously in need of help everywhere they go......but this lady worked for the IRS.....I mean, she obviously knew how to function when out in the real world so as to not raise suspicion as to the sickness behind closed doors....But dear lord Lala, you're right about that guy bein SICK!! "I need mayo packets, and ketchup packets, and jelly pouches......" crazy.....

That's the the thing... You never know how the inside of someone's house might be... They can function just like everyone else on the outside...but they can't drive past a thrift store or throw out newspapers because you just never know if you might need it again someday.

It's tiggered by a traumatic event. The two people I know both were triggered by death of a parent.

We have a family member who I think definitely qualifies. I think it's been 8 years since we've been in their house. It's sad and truly gross.
