When you shoot a deer and there is blood left on the ground, does the scent of blood keep other deer away?

Report as

The scent of menstrual blood actually attracts deer, so I'm guessing other blood will attract them as well.

Yes, deer often avoid unfamiliar scents in their environment.

well it depends most deer smell humans that's what keep them away. and if you do shoot a deer the blood gets left behind at some times but that doesnt keep the deer away

all depends on the deer. some mind it others dont. my buddies and i have witnessed deer going to guy piles from a day or 2 before so it doesnt seem to affect them much. id be more worried about ur scent then the scent of blood left behind

Yes, it is the smell of death. In fact your scent will keep them away if not down wind.

I once killed a deer. I stayed in my stand and didn't move about an hour later 5 more deer came up. They came within a few feet of the dead deer. They looked at it and one big doe would stomp her front feet trying to make the dead deer get up.Other than that it didn't seam to bother them. Had they smelled me or where I had been they would have been gone.

It shouldn't make a big deal. Congrats on the deer though!

no it doesnt, most deer arent bothered by it. ive shot many deer in the same spot on back to back days. and ive had deer go right to my gut piles and lick them

shot a buck in eastern nc and never saw another deer out of that stand of course that was not really blood dropped in his tracks so guess it depends on the deer and the deer herd
