Ok, you asked. Heres the deal. I grew up on a REMOTE dairy farm 30 miles from Canada. Deep in snow and wintry weather all my life, miles from medical help. Whats the reason for the cough? Stuffy, stale air from being sealed inside? Probably. Nowadays supervision is advised, but the more time we spend outside the healthier we are. Double for kids. Things like imagination, creativity, social interaction, exercise, and independence abound in outside activity. All good stuff. Seems to me that in our efforts to protect our children from the dangers that do exist outside, we deprive them of the overwhelming benefits. Send them outside for goodness sake! Insist upon it for their sake! Protect them but don't smother them. Whats the alternative? Mind altering video games?!!! Textathons? "Online ed"? Send them outside mom! No fever? They gotta go!

No, because if it is an asthma cough, you can make him have a bad asthma attack when the cold air hits his lungs. Even if his cough is something else, a cough means something is wrong and the child's immune system is low. Get the child to a doctor first. Take care.
