Who didn't know that 40+40x0+1=41...?

Report as

i knew it, but the problem should actually look like this for it to be used on a test or something like that 40 + (40 x 0) + 1= 41

You wrote the correct way !!
Report as
No, that would be redundant.
It would never have to be written that way on a test.
Report as
It doesn't have to be...

That's what I'm sayin too......there was never any stipulation as to how or when to add or multiply......
Report as
No, it doesn't.
Order of operations was taught in second grade.

nafta sorry bro but order of operations its 41 :/
Report as
Yes 41is the answer...

figured it out i get it :D

but don't you have to put the 40x0 like (40x0)

Wow... No.

40+(40x0)+1
40+0+1
=41

Report as
I wasn't thinking about that sorry... I was taught order of operations in third grade anyways.
Report as
Y'all learned that? :o
Report as
Yeah... PEMDAS. Parenthesis, exponents, multiplication and division and then addition and subtraction.
Report as
Please excuse my dear aunt sally
Report as
yea we did to but we did stay on it that long my teacher was like "do as you wish"
Report as
I don't need mind tricks to remember. :P I'm lucky, I remember things like an elephant..
Report as
I went to a small private school and my teachers wouldnt let you go to the next unit unless you got a B+ or higher on the test on the unit
Report as
I've always gone to public schools. i like them more.
Report as
I could never learn in big groups, i need lots of attention :) i grew up in a small household though, the school was expensive and my parents were sending five kids there so...
Report as
I would do good in that school! I haven't gotten anything under a B+ in math this quarter and I'm in advanced Algebra 3 and PreCal. :D
Report as
well i answer alot of questions for all of the kids in my classes, they come to me for answers XD
Report as
I'm mostly an all A's student but I have a B in math and i'm in all advanced classes and in regular math
Report as
Same here. :P But... They don't offer advanced classes for all of the available classes in my school. Are you in high school? I'm in 11th grade.
Report as
i make A and B's im probably one of the best kids in my science class and English im ok in history and math im great im band
Report as
I'm in AP Chemistry and it's very hard, so I had to work very hard for a B. :P Everything else I sustained all A's in. (:
Report as
i love chemistry, science just comes easy to me. my dad likes it to and always helped me that might have had something to to do with my love of it
Report as
Love math...like english...history is okay...but science is never my friend...but I always pass...
Report as
I love Chemistry. It's just harder than anythings else I've done. And I plan to pursue a science-related career because I love it so much.
Report as
like i said i want to be a science teacher

No, it doesn't.
Report as
I guess that order needs to be taught to calculators
Report as
Are you serious?
I can't tell if you're joking, or an idiot.
Report as
anything times zero = zero + 1 = 1
Report as
Yes Chris...you are correct!
Report as
How old are you?
Order of operations must be used.
You would multiply by zero FIRST.
So it would become 40+0+1.
Report as
Your wrong!
Report as
thats why in my answer, i wrote it the proper way, the rules for order change when you get to algebra, and that is an algebraic equation, if you want it to equal forty one it must be written 40+(40x0)+1=41
as opposed to 40+40x0+1=1 because with the way the second one is written, your order of operations rotates to doing the addition first, because the multiplication is not in parentheses, did i mention i really hate math?
Report as
Are you stupid?
It isn't an algebraic question, there are no variables.
Only when finding a variable would you reverse the order.
Report as
it is an algebraic question, that form of equation is not introduced until you reach algebra one, just because there arent variables doesnt mean it isnt basic algebra, thats like saying it isnt geometry if it doesnt involve a triangle, i think you just have no idea how to do math
Report as
You are an utter idiot.
An algebraic question, by definition is: an expression including variables
I'm in calculus for god sakes.
You, do not know what you're talking about, you should stop before you make yourself sound less intelligent.
Report as
hahaha, apparently whether you're in calculus or not wont change that you obviously suck at algebra, you're wrong, use a scientific calculator if you dont believe me.
Report as
Alright, I did, and the answer was a surprising 41!
You insolent moron.
Report as
you really need to stop calling names, it doesnt become you, it actually just makes you look really stupid, i guarantee that if you didnt have a keyboard to hide behind, you wouldnt be acting like such an a$$, if we were face to face, i would already have put you back in your place, on the dirt, with a busted jaw, you really need to shut your mouth, it will get you into trouble one day.
Report as
So, you admit that you were wrong, and stupid for calling me bad at math?
Because that doesn't look like a rebuttal, it looks more like a sorry attempt at claiming victory.
If this were a real conversation, then yes, I would absolutely have said what I said.
And if you were to hit me, it would make you look even worse.
When proven wrong, only an idiot would harm his teacher.
Report as
you are not my teacher, you are an arrogant fool who needs to be taught a lesson, right, wrong, or otherwise on the math question, doesnt matter, when compared to the much larger problem that you apparently do not know how to present information in a way which is polite and kind, your debate tactics are equivalent to a four year old, especially if you would be dumb enough to say such things to me in person, because whether you are right or not, an insult will make you wrong, and throwing an insult at me, just makes you an idiot. again, heed my warnings, your mouth will get you into trouble if you dont reel it in
Report as
Your ignorance will get you a bullet in your head.
When you are wrong, and accuse the OTHER of being horrible at the subject, they have every right to treat you as a moron.
