It is a proud and brave thing to do. They are literally protecting us and a lot of other countries. It is extremely honorable, and people can be proud of the fact that they helped their country, and saved many lives. That is kind of a rude thing to say, though; despite your trying apologetic speech.
wow!!!
Maybe it depends on where you're from. I'm from a military family and area and the people here are very modest about being in the military. I tried to give a soldier a discount once, and he was all embarrassed and didn't want to benefit from his uniform. So, it differs....
Well, service in the military seems badass, that's one. Secondly, life as military is incredibly stressful, grueling and that's what gains people's admiration.
Third, joining the military is considered "honorable", because you're technically handing over your life to the government, and it's up to the government to decide where he chucks it.
It's an honorable and respectable job. I know, it's hell in warfare. It's hell, and that's why it's considered honorable to join them military.
Because it's something only about ONE PERCENT of the population does, while the rest of us enjoy our freedom without paying any price for it.
You need to experience it to really know why. Some of the best remembrances of my life were my military service.
they all go in for the same reason or thought..They are like me..looking for a few good men
well the women are..
It kind of hurts
They can shove it down whom ever's throat they want.
They go in, and risk their lives, so that you can keep asking why they do it.
they feel important and feel that everyone should respect them
Because they are hero's and they should be proud, it is an honor and privilege to serve this country, heck I'm proud of all our men and woman in the service, they deserve the utmost respect, I make it a point to shake the hand of every solder, and veteran I meet, and thank them for their service and sacrifice
Responsibility! A parents love for there child will cause them to do anything to nurture and provide for them, they will take any degrading job and work three of them if needed so that they may grow to become happy, strong and virtuous adults. If they are successful, they can look back with pride that their dedication had not been in vain, and that the blood, sweat and tears they shed were well spent. Now replace the parent with the soldier and the child with our nation and I'll ask you, was it in vain or will you make me proud?
because they represent our beutifull country the USA of AMERICA under GOD
I see no earthly reason why the United States should play "world cops!" we are the only country on earth that has military bases all over this same earth! I too come from a family that had many members in the military. they all volunteered and believed they were doing the right thing. I love them and respect them in doing what the believe was right. I refused to even sign up for the draft and I am proud of that! I have no patience for people who do not stand up for what they believe. I also knew I could go to prison for my refusal. many good people have spent many years behind bars because of their beliefs! each man (or woman), at some point in their lives, should assume total responsibility for their actions or in actions. when a person goes against the tide of public opinion, he soon finds out who his friends are. who loves him. such was I! and to this day, I am very proud I said "hell no, I won't go"...
Speaking as someone who has never joined or served in the military, and any of my family members who served I never got the chance to talk to about it, and anyone else in my family who knew them are also dead and I didn't have a chance to talk to them about it either, ans the people a do know who are currently serving don't talk about why because they are talking to me to help them keep their minds off stuff and have a bit of fun, I think they have a sense of pride because maintaining the mindset they need is a task they have worked hard to accomplish, and it is just something they may be proud of. Just like if you were to win a sports medal or something and you tell someone, because you're proud. Maybe they also just strongly believe that is has a positive influence on anyone's life, to think of things outside the box, take a step back on your personal life/issues, and helps you to achieve a lower sense of selfishness and self-centredness.
The sacrifice and service performed by the average uniformed serviceman is remarkable, and worthy of our approval and admiration. Conversely, those who complain about our military, it's cost and those who serve in it, need to learn the hard lessons of freedom: it isn't free, and our military is doing their hard job on your behalf, typically without thanks, and for wages that most would not work 8 hours a day to earn, much less 24/7 in foreign countries with bad guys out to kill you, away from the comfort of family and friends, often in cold and privation.
You sound jealous. It's not attractive.
I congratulate you on learning which group you belong in. You may cheer from the sidelines as the team wins or loses, but you will never know the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat. You may have the better part, I do not know, but I would not trade even one of my years of active duty for a kibitzers chair.
I am proud of our military bc there are none better in the whole world that's why!!! When they are called upon to do a task that involves their life they don't think twice, THEY ARE THERE!! They are heroes, the bravest men and women on the planet and they deserve more respect than ANYBODY!!!! Thank you from me to you, for the freedom that we all share. GOD Bless you and GOD Bless America!!!
