Do you think getting rich is just luck?

im asking this on my mind based on lately news in my life

Report as

Not really. Sometimes you're rich from hard work (creating a one-man company, then later an international one) or from luck (scratch tickets, gambling, etc.).

Yeah I have read that book and it is a load of rubbish to put along side with the secret and Think and Grow rich. It has some good points, but Robert Kyosaki's so-called rich dad has yet to be named or identified. Along with that Kyosaki rips off his seminar attendees. He is just a salesman plain and simple. He just tells you what you want to hear, and then promises that you too can obtain wealth by increasing your credit card limit to 20 or 40 thousand to pay for his class.

Hardly. Rich people are just better off than others

Luck always plays a major part of any success but hard work, a great idea and dedication to your goals are way more important. You can't just get by on luck.

Some of it is, but almost anybody can get rich with hard work and determination. Certain people just have to work harder to achieve wealth than others.

There's a certain amount of luck involved. You need to have a way of making a lot of money. It's not just working hard, because a janitor works hard yet he'll never get rich that way.

Sometimes it is sometimes its not. I would recommend going to college. I didnt think I would find a job in college. Then I joined a club related to my major and they had all these connections with companies. There are proffesional organizations for most careers that you can join and network through.

Also saving money is just as imporant as making it. You can pinch pennys and wind up a millionaire just by not spending and being smart with it. My grandparents did. They didnt have very good jobs. Grandpa was a radio repairman. Grandma was unemmployed. They saved and saved and invested there money in cheap rent houses that they fixed up a little bit. Kept savin'. They went from broke to being millionaires but it took a long time. And a lot of hard work and self control.

Buy silver coins. Look what happened to gold. Gold used to go for 200 an ounce now its 1600. Silver could do the same.

its very smart what you said but again they were lucky to get rich after all that hard work it somehow worked for them i think..and sure for somebody who did the same things or even more didn't work.

Main thing for wealth is money management skills and to be honest sacrificing a majority of your youth to become wealthy. I am just telling you what my grandfather said, but then again he grew up in the depression.

Most people who 'make it' do so because they worked long hours doing things most people would not do. They aren't necessarily smarter, they just do the hard dirty work most people won't. They don't quit when times are tough. They don't listen to negative commentary. They believe in themselves. Success is not handed to you, it's earned. Most rich people have suffered through failure, doubt, difficulty, negative comments from family and friends, and in spite of it all still continued to work. I could give $1,000 to a lazy person and they would spend it foolishly. I could give $1,000 to a hard worker and they will turn it into 10 times that.

beckyathome bullshit a majority of rich people who didn't inherit their money get it by luck. Very few save their money and magically become rich by their wits. They might be able to get a good job, but if they were not already born into the upper echelon that many like Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, and Jobs were born into they will not get rich. Most people have to save their money and use financial assets such as stocks or bonds in order to obtain wealth in the long run. Nowadays though even that method is becoming speculative. I seriously doubt that if you give 1000 to a hard worker they will turn it into 10 times or 10000. Very doubtful and if you are talking exponentially 1000--> 1000*10^30 is very doubtful.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs and Warren Buffet all started with NOTHING. They worked hard and smart to get rich.

hey they are billion of people in the world if we all get Bill Gates or Steve Jobs who is gonna be medium, i don't think they are not lucky there must be other talented and hard working people out there but they don't have the same luck or destiny maybe smth smaller.

First of all Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did not start from nothing. That is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. Bill Gates was in the Upper Middle class, and attended Harvard. Need I remind you that back in 1980s computers were expensive, and were hard to come by. This guy was tinkering with them way before they became popular. This idea that Bill gates was scrapping by trying to pay his rent and bills is ridiculous. He had a humongous leg up from his parents, and reeped the rewards from it. Steve jobs was not as endowed as Bill Gates, and I guess an argument could be made for him that he started with nothing. The only real Rags to Riches story that I can believe is Oprah. I don't care for her show, but I will say that is an example of rags to riches. Bill Gates was just an upper middle class kid who purchased dos for 50000, and licensed the software to IBM. Most of being rich is luck, and time period. During the time when Bill Gates and Steve Jobs started their business of making computers personal, it was a new market. Nowadays if they were born in this time period, I guarantee that neither one of them would be worth the billions they have now.

You can get rich by luck but you can only get wealthy by hard work.
Winning a lottery makes you rich in a moment but not wealthy.

Asian kids and their delusional fantasy world, I can say this because I have a girlfriend who thinks this way. Lottery is way to get rich quick, but the main problem is that it is mostly won by poor people who have this idea that outward appearance equals how rich they are. What baffles me the most is the bankruptcy of some lottery winners. If you already have the money why do you need a loan. Assets can be acquired easier with money than hard work. Hard work is a facade because it isn't about hard work. Instead it is about having the right skill sets mainly STEM and then go into financial industry to screw people over by essentially gambling. I canny stocks and bonds wi money along with real estate, so your claim that you can only get wealth by hard work is wrong.
