Is Satan imprisoned in Hell or does he rule it?

The Devil, Lucifer, whatever you wanna call him. I think he's imprisoned. If you don't think THERE IS a Big Guy Downstairs, than don't answer.

Satan has tea parties there because the heat makes prep easier and it's also easier to control the weather from such a centralized warm place.

I wonder if they're as popular as Good Queen Bess's tea parties?

Well, I think the clientele is more varied and interesting.

Satan was one of God's angels, but he made the choose to betray God, and started hell. So, I would say he does "rule" hell. I don't know why he would want to leave anyway.

I believe after the Archangel Michael beat the crap out of him he was thrown from Heaven, the crater he created when he landed became Hell, and he's imprisoned at the bottom. However, the demons that live there and torture the sinners love Satan. So he's imprisoned, yet kind of ruling.

You should harness this 'creative license' you have to write Sci-Fi. You seem to have the knack for the melodramatic.

Well, to this day, he is down there thinking he's a big winner. And he beat God.

Oops, I meant to say "He THINKS he beat God"! Wow, that's a bad....

@Tract: thx!!!
@Skillet: Hmm. Interesting . . . .

But wait! Edit: the demons are actually the Fallen Angels . . . . . so does that mean they are imprisoned in Hell and told to torture the humans (which the do willingly)? I know Satan personally tortures the Worst. So therefore Satan is imprisoned in Hell, is the head of the Torturing Business, yet does not rule over the actual land itself. Hmmm.

He currently rules it. After her bows before God, he will be imprisoned in it.

The Lord hasn't returned yet. He's still ruling it. After the Great Tribulation, he will bow before God, and hell will become his imprisonment. Sorta complicated

I think Satan is imprisoned in Hell because after being in Heaven, any place would would be a hell.

he probably rules it because he is the Fallen Angel by him not agreeing with God's way of rule.They kicked him out because he wanted to rule his own way, and so did in Hell

The devil is the prince of this world. When God created man and earth man had dominion over the earth, but when man sinned against God he gave that dominion to the devil. Satan has the right to this world and even the right to your soul unless or until you give your life to Jesus and make a decision to follow Him ( Jesus ) So satan rules hell right now. Hell wasn't meant for you and I it was created for satan and his demons. But man makes that chose to go there. God provided a way out though His Son Jesus. In the end all those who go there will be imprisoned there for eternity.

But he can only do what God allows. Therefore God is still in total control.

He is as free as a vulture right now. Seeking to kill and destroy all he can.
When Christ returns He will imprison satan to the lake of fire.

If such things exist there is no way we can know these things. Who among us in truth has been beyond the great divide and returned to report wha they have seen?

Satan is not imprisoned yet in the Book of Job it shows Satan going back and forth through out the earth and accusing the saints before the throne of God. In the Book of Revelation it shows that Satan is defeated and thrown into the lake of fire

Book of Job's Satan and Revelation's are different. They dissagree.

However, Satan can send parts of his consciousness to Earth.

The only difference between Job and Revelation is that Revelation has not happened yet

Satan is the ruler of H@ll. He didn't want to follow God because he wanted to have it his own way so he was cast into hell along with some other dark angles. There were a lot of good angles but they wanted to follow him so God lost a few. Santa is the Father of liars. I strongly believe that he rules hell he wanted to have a place for his own and he thought that God wasn't good enough for him . We just have to becareful when Satan comes knocking at our door the best thing to do is not to answer.

Not yet. He has power over this world atm. He shall be bound & tied & kept in the abyss for 1000yrs, when its time for the prophecy to come. All the angels that disobeyed God in Noahs day & had sex with human women are bound with great heavy chains, been thrown in Tartarus (prison), with sharp jagged rocks thrown on them. to cover their mouths so they can't make petitions to the heavens. There eyes have also been covered so as to not see light. I would assume Satan will be bound in the same manner. Oh & each is all alone. There is & will never be a ruler of the chambers to the underworld apart from YHWH.

Hi WV, Satan is influencing and instigating all of the bad that you still see in the world today. So, please don't allow him to trick you in believing that he is imprisoned, because he is not. WV, this scripture will provide you with the answer to his whereabouts:

2 Cornthians 4:4 (NCV) The devil who rules this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe. They cannot see the light of the Good News—the Good News about the glory of Christ, who is exactly like God.

You see, Satan the devil is the ruler of the world. So, if he is imprisoned, you can say that his jail cell is the earth because he and his demons are no longer able to go back into the heavens. Rev 12:9 tells us that Satan and his demons were thrown out of the heavens by Michael and they were not imprisoned, but instead they were thrown down to the earth (not to a place called Hell, but to the earth). However, later, according to Rec 20:1-3, he will be imprisoned for 1000 years and will eventually be let loose for a little while. Then at Rev 12:10, he and his demons will be destroyed later.

Satan and his demons shall be tormented day and night forever and ever! He will be the chief inmate. Right now he is the god of this world. His fate is sealed.
