Egg substitute in cake?
Ii am making a cake that requires 4 eggs, and I only have 2. I cannot go and buy more eggs; there is a snow storm. What can I do to substitute the other two eggs?
It depends on what you are making. For a cake you can try 1/4 cup of vegetable oil for each egg you are subbing out. I also use applesauce, but that is better for sweet breads and may not work very well for the cake depending on what flavor it is.
Vegetable oil or apple sauce1 egg = 1/4 cup of either.
