I guess it depends partly on personal preference. In the city things are more convenient but you are more dependent on the structure others have put in place. In a rural environment you need to be more self sufficient and prepared. If you suffer some types of emergencies in the city, help may arrive more quickly. In a rural area it may not arrive in time. I grew up in a rural area and moved to the city when I got older. Although the city has some advantages I greatly prefer the rural lifestyle. Listen to the song "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr.
I prefer suburbia myself! Close enough that if I want to go to the city, I can, but wouldn't want to live there. I don't like bugs at all, so country living is not for me either! Plus, I like a little neighborly interaction!
