Jesus is not God's Son in the sense of a human father and a son. God did not get married and have a son. God did not mate with Mary and, together with her, produce a son. Jesus is God's Son in the sense that He is God made manifest in human form (John 1:1, 14). Jesus is God's Son in that He was conceived in Mary by the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:35 declares, "The angel answered, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.'" During His trial before the Jewish leaders, the High Priest demanded of Jesus, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God" (Matthew 26:63). "'Yes, it is as you say,' Jesus replied. 'But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven'" (Matthew 26:64). The Jewish leaders responded by accusing Jesus of blasphemy (Matthew 26:65-66). Later, before Pontius Pilate, "The Jews insisted, 'We have a law, and according to that law He must die, because He claimed to be the Son of God'" (John 19:7). Why would His claiming to be the Son of God be considered blasphemy and be worthy of a death sentence? The Jewish leaders understood exactly what Jesus meant by the phrase "Son of God." To be the Son of God is to be of the same nature as God. The Son of God is "of God." The claim to be of the same nature as God-to in fact be God-was blasphemy to the Jewish leaders; therefore, they demanded Jesus' death, in keeping with Leviticus 24:15. Hebrews 1:3 expresses this very clearly, "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being." John 10:36 : Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
In this same way, Jesus is the Son of God. The Son of God is God. Jesus is God made manifest (John 1:1, 14).
Yes, as other posts confirmed, but even his disciples confirmed it too at Matt 8:28 and John 1:49. However, its interesting to note that no where will you find that Jesus said that he was God the Almighty.
Just As Nicodemos Came To Jesus By Night To B e t t e r Understand S p i r i t u a l B i r t h, So It Is With A b b a F a t h e r, Virgin M a r y, The H o l y Spirit and J e s u s Son of God. ---------------------------- Scripture Quote ---------------------------- One night he went to Jesus and said, Rabbi, we know that God has sent you to teach us. You could not work these miracles, unless God were with you. ------------------------------------- Jesus replied, I tell you for certain that you must be born from above before you can see God's kingdom!? Nicodemus asked, How can a grown man ever be born a second time? Jesus answered: --------------------------------- I tell you for certain that before you can get into God's kingdom, you must be born not only by water, but by the Spirit. ------------------------- Humans give life to their children. Yet only God's Spirit can change you into a child of God. Don't be surprised when I say that you must be born from above. (JOHN 3:2-7 CEV)
John 8:24 - "I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins." John 8:58 - "Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.'" - John 10:30-33 - "I and the Father are one." - Jesus refers to God as his Father often and GOD calls him Son often soooo....
http://carm.org/bible-verses-show-jesus-divine . You will note that the Bible has many Tanach verses that indicate the Messiah is an unusual person. However, the divine nature of the messiah was hidden to the Jews, and today they still only expect a human messiah, in the model of King David. It would appear that the understanding of the messiah as more than human was something that God himself had to reveal to Peter, when Jesus asked, "Who do people say that I am?" Therefore some do not require this of seekers, as it is an understanding not every disciple had prior to the Cross; on the other hand, denial of it has historically been the difference between historic Christianity and a cult.
Yes, he did but you see people with no knowledge of the Bible mistakenly think that the disciples called Jesus the Son of God. In the King James Bible, the translators call Jesus Son of God in Acts 3:13, 26, and 'child of God' in Acts 4:27. They simply translated the Greek word Paida as 'son' or 'child'. But the word 'paida' also means 'servant', and the present context demands this translation since the author of Acts is trying in this passage to establish that Jesus is indeed the servant of God. According to the Biblical term in the Old and New Testaments, every God- fearing righteous person is called 'Son of God'.
In Matthew 5:9 we read:
" Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called the children of God."
( 116 ) And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.
( 117 ) I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness. Quran(5:116-117)
