I'm 17 will be 18 in may and will be getting out of the foster care system. Is there Rent Assistance out there?

I'm 17 will be 18 in may and will be getting out of the foster care system I have been offered to stay in till im 21 under certain regulations and have a bachelors degree of my choice paid for. But i have been jerked around By Oregon DHS so much that i can't do it. I work and make roughly 550 a month and still go to high school Ill be out of DHS soon and need to know if there is rent assistance out there? If so what programs should i look into?

This website has information for Oregon on housing assistance. Just be aware that many programs have a waiting list of months if not years. $550 is not enough to make it on your own and I would seriously consider getting some assistance until you are 21, or at least keeping that option open until you know you have a place to live. http://www.oregon.gov/ohcs/pages/css_low_income_rental_housing_assistance_programs.aspx

There are programs that assist with housing for individuals who have come out of foster care and cannot make ends meet. You can get additional information about such programs by visiting http://www.cwla.org/programs/fostercare/agingoutresources.htm.

In your foster care it may be a advisor that can help you get rent assistance
