why is the passengers seat called shotgun?
As you may have seen in old western movies, on a stage coach, a guard would ride up next to the driver. He was not inside the coach. He carried a shotgun to try to prevent robberies.
Possibly from YEARS ago, I'm talking back in the 1800's when there were stagecoaches carrying bank $$$...and 2 guys could sit up top in front....other than that, couldn't tell ya.
