From John the baptist through the founding of churches the value of confessing to a person with shared prayers for forgiveness from god is encouraged. ~ Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. -Mark 1:5 (NKJV) ~ Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. -James 5:16 (NKJV) ~ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. -1 John 1:9 (NKJV)
Sometimes getting a verbal response can help. And when he tells you what prayers to say to repent, it can help to realize what exactly he meant by giving you THOSE specific prayers to say.
On 'Evan Almighty' God told Steve Carrel that when you pray to God to help you improve your patience, God doesn't give you patience, but rather, gives you an opportunity to learn it thoroughly so it will stick in the long run.
Another fallacy of the Catholic Church. They are taught that God only listens to or listens better to Church leaders like priests or higher. That God/Jesus/Mary wont listen to/hear prayer made directly to them by anyone not a member of Catholic hierarchy. Lies the Catholic Church has used for centuries to keep their people under their control and dominion.
The problem with priest is they tell you their the only ones that understands the bible and that it has to be read and taught to you in order for you to understand it. That's why you never see anyone carrying a bible to church in The Catholic Church. People really need to wake up and do a study on all different Churches not only the Catholics but others as well. There are a lot of false Christ out there and the bible tells us in the last days they will deceive many. God gave us a discerned Spirit for this very reason. So that the Holy Spirit could show us what to look for.
The Bible actually commands us to go boldly before the throne ofvgrace, and a whole section of Hebrews disvusses how Jesus IS our High Priest....and how we don't need a human mediator dince He is our mediator.
