Really want to know : if you sin& want to confess : why not just talk to Jesus instead of waiting to talk to a priest ?

Report as

From John the baptist through the founding of churches the value of confessing to a person with shared prayers for forgiveness from god is encouraged.
~
Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.
-Mark 1:5 (NKJV)
~
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
-James 5:16 (NKJV)
~
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
-1 John 1:9 (NKJV)

In this case, the priest has become a profession or a job, people trust he would not betray them, because once the priest betray anyone, he is not able to do this job anymore.

I think we can the same thing to a friend we can trust when we have done something wrong. But the problem is that we already can't have a friend we can trust that way so far.

Maybe in the future, when our society has changed, and we can trust each other more, and rumors won't have the power to hurt anyone anymore, we don't have to confess to a priest anymore.

Go straight to Jesus. there's no need to talk to a priest. That's only what is taught in the Roman Catholic Church

it is the priest who tell you everything about Jesus.

no one could meet Jesus, but we will never satisfy unless someone give us response when we try to talk.

That's why "delusion" can't be persuaded if nobody want to give them response seriously.

You can. God doesn't care if you go straight to him - He just wants you to confess and try hard not to repeat the sin

Sometimes getting a verbal response can help. And when he tells you what prayers to say to repent, it can help to realize what exactly he meant by giving you THOSE specific prayers to say.

On 'Evan Almighty' God told Steve Carrel that when you pray to God to help you improve your patience, God doesn't give you patience, but rather, gives you an opportunity to learn it thoroughly so it will stick in the long run.

Yes you must repent and say God directly to forgive you. And you must take an oath not to repeat same thing in future. Absolutely no need of any priest or middleman between you and God.

Another fallacy of the Catholic Church. They are taught that God only listens to or listens better to Church leaders like priests or higher. That God/Jesus/Mary wont listen to/hear prayer made directly to them by anyone not a member of Catholic hierarchy. Lies the Catholic Church has used for centuries to keep their people under their control and dominion.

You're lying about the catholic church. The catholic or orthodox Christian churches don't believe or teach that.

Yeah! Thats not at all what any of us believe

so true.
Report as
you guys may not believe that, but the Catholic Church as a whole does.
Report as
It has nothing to do with what I "believe" I was an Orthodox Christian for 16 years; spent a year in a monastery studying extensively with many additional years of study reading most all of the church fathers from apostolic times and they do not teach or believe that.
Report as
I'm an atheist, so I have no dog in this fight, but aux... is a blatant liar and consistently tells lies repeatedly about the what Catholics believe and teach.
Report as
heres the deal....speaking of Apostolic forefathers, they claim The Apostle Peter as their "First Pope" the problem is that the current pope no longer speaks nor lives what the first pope did....nor does the Catholic Church as a whole believe or followv in those original apostolic teachings. cool ur jets: facts are facts and catholisism isn't the only religion to have started well and veered off the path.

The problem with priest is they tell you their the only ones that understands the bible and that it has to be read and taught to you in order for you to understand it. That's why you never see anyone carrying a bible to church in The Catholic Church. People really need to wake up and do a study on all different Churches not only the Catholics but others as well. There are a lot of false Christ out there and the bible tells us in the last days they will deceive many. God gave us a discerned Spirit for this very reason. So that the Holy Spirit could show us what to look for.

Who lying. I know I was a catholic for 30 years. Never could understand why it was so dead and boring. Then I becamre Born Again and gave my Life to Jesus. Been on fire for the Lord 30 years I've been set free from religion. You better do a study on your own church. Jesus said "My people perish from lack of knowledge.

Betty, I assume this is directed twords the catholic and some orthodox practices of confessional. You can read their reasoning on it here

You're welcome, Betty. I always feel its best to get it from the source then to get ideals and statements from people that for the most part really don't know what they're talking about.

maybe but the problem is that their reasoning goes against the structure that Jesus Himself laid out.
Report as
your opinion and theirs. did you read their reasoning?
Report as
lol....key word "their reasoning" did u ever read Paul's warning to beware lest any msn spoil you through philosophies and vain deceit?

unfortunately their reasoning directly contradicts certain things in the Scriptures. and when a mans opinion or beliefs contradict Gods Holy Word or Commands, then that man no longer has a right to persuade others of that erring opinion.

The Bible is the guide. Period. And it says we have no need of a priest since Jedus Himself is now our high priest....and it tells us to come boldly before His throne.

The Bible actually commands us to go boldly before the throne ofvgrace, and a whole section of Hebrews disvusses how Jesus IS our High Priest....and how we don't need a human mediator dince He is our mediator.

Church has to maintain authority over you, it's that power thing. They pass the word of god to you, after all god would never speak directly to a nobody like you, " heaven forbid". (Balony)!!!
