When and by whom was "Those Caissons Go Rolling
Along" composed?

The song was first composed by Brigadier General Edmund Louis "Snitz" Gruber in 1908. He was a graduate of the US Military School in West Point, by then. The song was later designated as the official song of the US Army in the year 1956.

The "Caisson Song" was written by field artillery First Lieutenant (later Brigadier General) Edmund L. Gruber, Lieutenant William Bryden, and Lieutenant (later Major General) Robert Danford in 1908.
