What is an antique round dining room table called, the whole top drops flat.

so it can be pushed up against a wall, people used to be able to have room to dance?

I think they're called drop top tables. There are drop leaf tables but they just have a portion of the top that drops. I know what you're talking about - very old design. Not all that common anymore.

They are mostly called drop leaf tables. The tables have tops that you can lay down on both sides to get space that you may use. They are also designed in a special manner, hence a unique name.
